Little Miss Pampered: Tips for skin!

One of my readers emailed me to ask about any skin care tips I could give. Here are some:

When I went to Mexico, I went to the spa several times. A great tip I picked up was that using ice on your skin can reduce pores and help with acne scars.

I have started using ice on my skin once a week, and I have noticed a big difference! My pores look smaller, my skin glows more and I break out less too!

I apply it once a week before a warm, steamy shower. I massage it on my skin for several minutes - it makes me feel so refreshed! It's a good idea to apply ice under a thin cloth, just to prevent any capillary damage. Some articles have also said that ice cubes can help delay the onset of wrinkles (something that I am now starting to worry about!)

The second tip is to use honey! I love honey on my skin - it makes my skin glow and reduces any spots/ scars! I apply honey once a week. Here is my post on it.

The third tip is to use sandalwood powder.

When my mum went to India last year, she brought back some Sandalwood powder. Sandalwood is actually used in many cosmetic products. Sandalwood powder helps with keeping your skin clear.

About 6 months ago, I had tiny little bumps on my face. Since I started using sandalwood powder, I noticed a major reduction in these! Sandalwood powder also softens skin and makes it look brighter. I simply mix a tiny amount of rose water to sandalwood powder and apply it all over my face, and leave it for 20 minutes. I'm sure you can find it in health food stores or on the Internet.

The fourth tip is to drink lots and lots of water! I drink over 3 litres a day! I am officially addicted to water! Water helps your skin to glow!

The fifth tip is to moisturise! If you don't moisturise, you will dehydrate your skin. Even though my t-zone is quite oily, I always moisturise as much as I can.  Also, if you suffer from breakouts, then not moisturising enough can cause more breakouts because your body will try to compensate the dryness by producing more sebum. Try to look for moisturisers without any parabens! I love Nivea soft moisturiser - it works wonders on my skin.

Lil Miss Glamorous: Orly Preamp +

Orly nail polishes really are the top of their game.

When I was sent this Barbie Pink nail polish (with a surplus of gold glitter) a few months ago, I fell in love. It looks like your typical glittery pink shade, but on closer inspection, it is saturated with gorgeous specks of glitter.

I'm a massive lover of the colour pink, and I probably have around 15 different shades of pink nail polishes in my drawer, but this colour stands out! It's perfect for all seasons, and you can get away with wearing it at work.

This shade is not as streaky as some of the other Orly nail polishes I have tried. Be warned though, it does take quite a while to dry!

This nail polish is from the 'Electronica Collection', which came out around July.

Lil Miss Organised: What's in my bag?

One of my favorite types of blog post is a 'What's in my bag?'. I would say that I'm quite a nosy person as it is, and finding out about how somebody organises their bag somewhat intrigues me.

This is the bag I take to work.  It's from Next.

One day, I would love to own a designer bag, but I can't bring myself to spend over £200 on a handbag! I carry so many things in it, that I would end up worrying about it too much!

The bag

The outer pockets

There are 3 compartments - which is handy for when I'm fishing through the bag.

The contents: Company phone, Umbrella, Sat Nav (I don't like leaving it in my car, in case it gets stolen), Oyster card holder, River Island wallet, keys, iPhone and toiletries bag.

Inside my toiletries bag: Batiste hair brush, travel bands (for my motion sickness), EOS lip balm, pain killers, lipsticks (Revlon Pink Pout and Max Factor Pink Brandy), Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation, Rescue Remedy (to calm me down), hair tie, headphones and Vicks Vapo Rub (to help with colds)

My toiletries bag has two see through compartments inside, which makes life easier.

Lil Miss Pampered: Denman Bebop Brush *

I use hair straighteners pretty much everyday, therefore in order to compensate for the damage, I routinely apply oil to my hair. I use a combination of almond oil and coconut oil, which are known to add moisture to hair. Massaging your hair stimulates blood flow to your scalp, which can encourage hair growth.

I was sent this Denman Bebop Brush several months ago. I use it every time I apply oil to my hair. This brush can also be used in the shower, whilst applying shampoo and conditioner.

This brush has extra soft plastic pins which are meant to stimulate your scalp even more! This could make a perfect stocking filler present for literally anyone (as long as they have hair!)

In my opinion, Denman brushes are definitely at the top of their game!

How much does it cost?
This brush costs around £4

Where can you buy it from?
It is available from Boots, Superdrug and John Lewis. You can also check out their website.

Do you massage your hair?
