Lil Miss Sporty: 10 minute Solution Blast Off Belly Fat review

Hi guys!

Today I'm going to review a workout DVD by Suzanne Bowen (a personal trainer in America). Avid readers of my blog will know that I love workout DVDs, especially ones by Jillian Michaels. Workout DVD's are great to do at home (as long as there's space.. and privacy) and don't cost much compared to the gym!

This DVD has 5 exercise segments which are 10 minutes long!

The ''10 minute Solution Blast Off Belly Fat'' DVD has caught my eyes many a time during my frequent trip to Amazon. I thought it was just a gimmick until I read the reviews. I decided to purchase it because I wanted to lose my stomach for my 21st birthday party and because it was so cheap (under £5!).

''No time to exercise? We have the solution for you – the TEN MINUTE SOLUTION. Everyone can find at least ten minutes in their day and we’ve developed 5 dynamic workouts that are just ten minutes each. The workouts were specifically designed to attack your midsection from every angle for optimum results. These compact, ultra-efficient workouts fit into even the busiest of schedules. Split them into five separate workouts or do them all together for one amazing, belly-fat-blasting workout.''

I'm going to quickly summarise each workout.
  • Flat Belly Fast - 'Get a flat belly that will turn heads. This core -focused segment zeros in on the deepest abdominal muscles with a singular goal: to flatten your belly fast. In my opinion, this segment is  the hardest! If you ever buy this DVD do not start of with this  segment. There are lots of plank moves (which I hate ) but I have to admi, it really works your abs.
  • Pilates Perfect Abs -  ''Pilates is famous for delivering a sexy midsection without traditional crunches or sit-ups. This programme delivers those Pilates Perfect Abs'' I haven't really used this segment as much as the others. It is pretty tough, but there's lots of breathing and I did feel really relaxed after this segment.
  • Belly Fat Blaster- ''Toned, firm ab muscles can be hidden from view by a layer of fat. This standing segment will burn mega calories and bring you that much closer to revealing your chiseled ab muscles''This workout is the easiest! I find it easy because I love cardio-vascular exercises. I like how there's a mix of cardio and ab work. I don't find anything in this segment particularly difficult.
  • Ab ripper- 'Instructor Suzanne Bowen picked her favourite, most effective exercises and put them together into this powerful, 10 minute, all-out attack on belly fat''. I love this segment. It is pretty tough- but do-able. My stomach tends to look a bit flatter the next day!
  • Six Pack Abs- ''If you won't be satisfied until you have wash board abs, let's hit the floor and crunch it out with this jam packed workout that will leave you well on your way to 6 pack abs' This is the second hardest segment in the DVD. At times I felt like giving it! It really works your abs out.
Summary:
Method: I try to use this as a supplement to other workout DVD's. Remember, you can't lose the belly fat without cardio first! I love this with Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism by Jillian Micaels - which is a cardio workout.
Has it made a difference to your body? -Yes. I have noticed a bit more definition in my abs. My stomach is my major problem area! I try to use this 3 times a week.. ideally I would love to do it everyday but I'm so lazy at times :(
What is the trainer like? I love Suzanne Bowen (she even replied to me on Twitter :O )! She's really sweet and motivating- plus she is super gorgeous. Her abs are perfect and she's not too muscular! I love Jillian Michaels too but this trainer is a lot sweeter!
Advantages: You can customise the workout! I've done two workouts in a row together, but I could not muster anymore. Plus the DVD is under a fiver! I love the fact that each workout is 10 minutes long, perfect for those who have no time!
Disadvantages- you can't rely on this DVD to lose the belly fat. You need to incorporate some cardio and weight training too. However, it has definitely helped with toning my body.
Is it good for beginners? I would say no. I've done 30 day shred workouts (some of which are pretty tough) and I couldn't do a lot of the moves. This workout does get easier but I would recommend it to those who have a moderate level of fitness. Start at segment 2 or 3.. but defininely not 1 or 6!
Hope you enjoyed the review :)
Have you tried any of the 10 minute Solutions workout DVDs?
*Not affiliated with Suzanne Bowen, Amazon or 10 minutes solutions. This review is my honest opinion - as always :) ''

Lil Miss Technologic: Health and Beauty Iphone Apps :$

Hello my lovely cupcakes,

I'm going to do a bit of an original post today. It's going to be regarding the different health and beauty iPhone apps that I use on a day to day basis. For those who know me in 'real life' I am obsessed about the iPhone. I love apps and I love showing cools apps to people. I know it sounds kinda sad but  I adore it hehe.

Streaks (£1.19)
This is one of my favourite apps. ''Streaks is a simple tool for tracking the consecutive days it takes to reach a certain goal. For each day that you accomplish your task, you mark it on the Streaks calendar. Miss a single day and the streak starts over''. This app is such a great visual way to motivate yourself. I use it for working out! I've set it so I have to work it out every other day or the streak will start over. It definitely makes me want to work out more! The above picture is my September Streak calendar. You can use it for pretty much anything! LOVE IT.

Health Tips app (Free)
This app has over 1000 health tips. I read it when I'm bored on the tube and it's pretty helpful!

Paul Mckenna ''I can make you thin'' (£5.99)
If you've read my previous posts, you'll probably know that I am obsessed about Paul Mckenna. He is a legend - he made me lose weight, simple :) Even though I've got the book and the CD I decided to purchase the app so I can listen to the weight loss CD on my phone and to read the rules when I'm in need of motivation. There is also a journal to keep track of your progress, video techniques, and a panic button (for those who need a burst of motivation).

Track it (Period Calendar 59p)
I was actually quite embarassed to discuss this app but I thought 'sod it', most of the people who read my blog are females anyway! lol. This is really a period tracker. You just enter when you start your period and then when you finish it. It also tells you when you're ovulating (not that I care about that but when I'm ovulating I've noticed my skin looks better lol). It's also great for warning others for when I'm going to be on PMS haha!

Beauty tips (free)
This is just an array of beauty tips in one app. I love to read this when I'm bored and it has some pretty useful tips - even though some of them are basic. The app is free so I'm not really complaining.
You don't need to have an iphone to purchase these apps, you can use an ipod touch. HTC touch also has some cool apps - not sure if it has the ones above though.

I may do related posts on iphone apps for other everyday things such as organisation, entertainment and food.

I hope you enjoyed reading this technology-beauty related post :)

:) Lil Miss Pondering: In and Out =

In

Yay it's my birthday soon - on 19th January to be exact. I'm super excited because I'm going to have a lovely party with my loved ones. I've bought my outfit and I've designed the cake - now it's time to sort out the decorations! I'm going to be 21 years old - it seems like such a lovely age.

One of my other New Year's Resolution is to experiment more with my hair. I always have it straight or naturally curly (more like naturally frizzy to be honest). I would love to have glamorous waves like Kim K for my party. I need to practice with my curling tongs :) Sriya's post has also given me some inspiration.

I don't know why but recently I've been obsessed about blusher . I love wearing new shades everyday and looking for potential blushes to add to my makeup collection. I'm currently stalking Mac Melba, Nars Torrid, Nars Orgasm and Benefit Coralista.

I've recently been doing lots of ab workouts, along with some cardio. I love the 10 minute solution: Blast of Belly Fat. I'm actually noticing a definition - as my stomach is a major trouble area. The workout is really tough but definitely delivers.

I'm going to Egypt and Morocco this year and I'm super duper excited. The thought of even going on holiday makes me really happy. It also makes me even more motivated to workout! I went to Egypt last year and I loved it - definitely the best country I've been to so far. If I could recommend any destination, it would be Egypt (mainly Sharm-El-Sheikh!)

I've been keeping an accounts diary. This has really helped me spend a lot less money. My new motto when going shopping is 'can I live without it?' Obviously I do treat myself sometimes, but saving money just makes me feel a whole lot better.

Out
I've cut down on the number of tablets I've been taking. I used to take skin, hair and nail tablets 3 times a day, cod Liver oil and iron tablets. I only take 1 iron tablet now and one SHN. I've noticed that my skin has improved drastically - the cod liver oil tablet was making my skin really oily and in my opinion that was the reason why it was quite spotty. I'm definitely eating much more healthily now - eating a handful of raw nuts everyday along with lots of fresh fruit and veg. I always feel 'alive' after eating them. :)

I've been wearing less makeup to uni. Nowadays I just wear powder foundation, under eye concealer, mascara, blush and lipstick. That is a massive change for me. I save lots of time in the morning, which allows me to wake up later woohoo!

I've been wearing a bit too much bronzer lately - and my skin has gone paler too which means I need to buy a light shade. It's making my face look muddy lol! I watched Lisa Eldridge's videos today and I have decided to take a different approach to bronzer and contouring. I'm going to be more subtle and use a lighter hand.

What are your In's and Outs?

Lil Miss Proud: Stylish Blogger Award :)

Hi guys! I hope everyone is having a fab bank holiday weekend :) The gorgeous and lovely  Brittany gave me a 'Stylish Blogger' award! Thank you so much for the award, you're so sweet Brittany :) xx

Here is how this award works:
  • Thank and list the person who gave you the award.
  • Name 7 things about yourself.
  •  Make a list of 7 blogs that you will give this award to.

1. I think I'm a little bit psychic.  Sometimes when I randomly think about someone, they seem to pop up in my life. One time I was thinking about a guy who I hadn't seen in 2 years, and I found out he passed away on the day I thought about him! So weird. Sometimes when I warn people about something, and they don't follow my advise.. something bad happens. I warned my friend to take care of her bag because there were a lot of pickpockets in the area, my friend didn't listen and something went missing. Maybe it's my gut instinct? I don't know!

2. I believe in sex after marriage. I don't know if this is a cultural thing but I've always felt strong about it :)

3. A lot of people don't know what race I am. I get told I look mixed race, Malaysian, Pakistani, Bengali, Turkish, Mexican, Colombian, Egyptian, and Portuguese. I am actually Indian.. most Asian people can tell but other's can't! I think it's pretty cool - I feel like a lot of people can relate to me!

4. I also have many doppelgangers. When I'm at work, customers always tell me that they've seen someone who looks exactly like me. Random people always smile at me on the streets, and sometimes people come up to me and ask me where they've seen me (and no, not guys.. mostly females!) I hope my doppelgangers are nice people - I don't want anyone to dislike me before even talking to me lol!

5. My part time job is in a bank as a customer service adviser. Basically I'm a cashier. I love it. I get to speak to random people and I've learnt lots about banking.. especially saving!

6. I'm a vegetarian - I've been so since I was born. I have accidentally tried chicken, turkey and lamb - all of which I found disgusting (I'm not used to the taste). I am Hindu, and we believe in non- violence.. hence being vegetarian. I do eat eggs though..oops.

7. I have two different personalities. When I am with my friends, family or anyone I feel comfortable with, I'm really hyper and a lot of people have likened my personality to Stacey Solomon (obviously not as Essex-sy or a bimbo-ey).. when I'm with others I'm as quiet as a mouse.

7 dolls I'm going to give this award to:

3. Kaushal at Beauty fulfilled.
4. Sami at Glam Sam.
5.Halima at Designer Spray
6. Sabina at Makeup addict.
7. Shifa at Get Gawjus
