Hi everyone! I thought I would do a health related post today!
In my previous health related post, regarding the Green Monster smoothie, I mentioned adding wheat germ to it!
I once read that wheat germ is GREAT for pimples (my skin has been playing up recently), therefore I decided to buy some!
What is Wheat Germ?
A grain of wheat is also known as the ‘wheat kernel’ or ‘wheat berry’. This is the seed that grows into wheat grass as we see it in fields.
Wheat germ is a good source of:
* B vitamins such as folate, niacin, thiamin, and vitamin B6
* Calcium
* Complex carbs
* Fiber
* Iron
* Magnesium
* Manganese
* Omega-3 fatty acids
* Phosphorous
* Potassium
* Protein
* Selenium
* Vitamin E
* Zinc

Also.. it is considered to be one of the HEALTHIEST foods!!! Being vegetarian, I need more protein and iron in my diet!
How do you use it?
I add 2 heaped spoonfulls of wheatgerm to my Green Monster smoothie (a smoothie consisting of banana, spinach and milk) everyday! Since I've been drinking the Green Monster smoothie I've noticed a big difference in my health. I have way more energy, I'm fuller for longer (less snacking) and my hair and nails have grown faster!!
Unfortunately I still break out quite a bit.. but I guess I can't have everything right? ;) LOL
Benefits of Wheatgerm?
Healthy skin: Vitamin E also is good for anti-aging and keeping the skin looking young and smooth.
Healthy hair: Want your hair to look fantastic? If so, add some wheat germ to your diet. Wheat germ contains thiamin, which contains an important vitamin in keeping your hair strong and natural looking. Thiamin is also good for the bones and skin.
Has anyone tried the Green Monster smoothie?

ReplyDeleteHey Roshas,
