Hi guys!
Hope you all had a fab Christmas!!
Christmas day for me involved lots of chilling - namely watching lots of films, opening presents, eating lots of food and hanging out with family :) Good times.
Anyway, this is a tag from the lovely 'BrittanyLove'
It involves listing your:
5 naughty products that disappointed you this year!
5 nice products that amazed you this year!
The Naughties:
Studio Fix Fluid is probably the worst foundation I have ever used. It felt so heavy on my face, it looked extremely shiny and my dry skin was totally exaggerated when wearing it. Furthermore it broke my skin out like crazy!!! I had spots for months afterwards. I would advise you not to buy this foundation if you have sensitive or dry skin.
Mac Penultimate Liquid Eyeliner. This is seriously the worst eyeliner I have ever used. I spent £11 on it and the liquid barely came out. When it did it looked kinda grayish. Seriously I would avoid purchasing this eyeliner - you can buy like 3 drug store ones with £11.
L'Óréal Paris Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer .This was the first primer I tried. It also put me off trying primers! I don't even know why I purchased it - my skin is quite smooth anyway. This product felt really unnatural on my skin - it didn't sink it and it made my makeup look worse. It also ruined my skin - it didn't cause me to break out but it made my skin look really dull for weeks (I'm pretty sure it was this product). I still don't get why people love this product??
OPI nail polishes. Yes they come in a wide range of colours and are insanely popular with bloggers but I frikkin hate them!! They don't last very long at all - I applied a nail polish at 10am. By 3pm it had mostly come off. This does not happen with any other brand. I used a base coat and top coat and everything. I think I'm the only person in blogging world to hate OPI nail polishes lol!
Victoria Jackson makeup. I don't know what possessed me to buy a Victoria Jackson makeup set. The sales people chat a lot of crap '' Victoria Jackson brushes are equal to, if not better than Bobbi Brown brushes''. Bullshit. Seriously the worst makeup I've ever used. The ingredients are shocking, the colours are disgusting, the brushes are horrible, the blush broke me out (a blush has never broken my skin out before) and the eye shadows are powdery. I would avoid this brand like a plague if I were you!!
Wow I sound so mean. Hey I just spent my hard earned money on this crap so of course I'm going to be a little bit agitated :P
The nice:
Loreal voluminous mascara - this is seriously the best mascara I have ever used. The best thing about it is that it is under £10 and is easily accessible. It literally makes my eyelashes look fake. I've had so many compliments about them. I like to apply one coat, wait for 5 minutes and then apply another. This is probably one of my favourite drug store products.
Mac studio fix powder plus foundation. This is probably the best foundation I have ever used. I have used this foundation for years, but I was wearing the wrong shade. I used to be an NC40 but now I wear a C4 which matches my skin almost perfectly. This foundation looks great on flash photography, and it is highly versatile. For night time I use the sponge provided for a higher level of coverage. For the day time I use the ELF powder brush for a lighter coverage. It covers any redness really well and the packaging is great for traveling. I am in love with it :)
Elf warm bronzer. This is my most used cheek product of 2010. It is so frikkin cheap (£3.50) but it delivers. It really compliments my skin tone and you can have a different look everyday due to the 4 different colours. I'd say that this is better quality than any of my Mac blushes. I actually gave my Mac blushes to my sister and my mother. I am in love with ELF products, namely the powder brush and the kabuki.
Mac lipstick in Ever Hip, from the Liberty of London collection. I love this colour - it is such a gorgeous peachy-coral. I've been wearing it a lot recently. It doesn't dry out my lips and it is buildable in coverage. Unfortunately this colour is limited edition :( I have been loving Mac lipsticks this year, my other favourites being: Cherish, Freckletone and Peachstock.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer. I have been using this everyday for the past year and a bit and it still has not reached pan! This bronzer is amazing - it's great for contouring and for all over the face. It is quite pricey but totally worth it in my opinion - because it lasts for frikkin ages! You only need to use a light hand with this product because it can make you look dirty. I like the colour of this bronzer. It is more of a golden tone, rather than a red tone. Golden tones look more natural on my skin colour.
This is it! There are loads of other products I have loved and hated but I could only pick 5 for each!
Other favourites have been Sigma Brushes, Mac lipglosses, Mac eyeshadows, Body Shop Bronzers, Sleek Contour kit, Barry M nail polishes, Amie Skin care, Nivea Face cream, Naked shampoos and NYX lipsticks.
What have been your naughties and nice ones for 2010?
I tag everyone!!
Love from Rosh xxx

The only thing I've tried on either list are OPI nail polishes. I really like them but I don't rate the price much! Tbh I think Barry M's are just as good, it's just that OPI have a wider colour selection x

Loreal Voluminous Mascara is most definitely a YAY! :) It really delivers!
ReplyDeleteI like how the Benefit blushes work on my skin too. I think they're quite great products! :)
I'm a new follower! <3
I had the same problem with the Studio Fix Fluid. It was like I got cystic acne overnight and it took months for it all to go away. I hated the L'Oreal primer too! It felt chunky a little bit and getting it out of the jar was just awkward. It also separated my foundation from my skin.
ReplyDeleteI love the Voluminous mascara, I always used to use that. I should pick some up. Thanks for reminding me :)
I have use the mac foundation and i have to say i love it, i also have dry skin, but my skin is far from sensitive. I agree on the VJ i hate her products. I also do love the mac powder along with benefit blushes.
ReplyDeleteLol at first i thought u made a mistake and put the OPI nailpolishes under the wrong heading! Ah seriously they chipped that quick? That sucks! Maybe u got a bad batch? :(
ReplyDeleteIf your still in a tag mood... i just made one up..called My Hairstory! Tag u! :D xo
@Siwing - i wish Ever Hip was not limited edition! I'm sure there are many dupes though! I'm going to go lipstick shopping today woohoo (even though I don't really need any more lipsticks lol)
ReplyDelete@ Marisa - i love loreal mascaras.. voluminous is definitely the best.. and the cheapest!
@Aysh - ive heard lots about the pink lemonade stick. .but how do you use it :s
@Toni - yeah Benefit blushes are lovely. I like Dallas! I really want to buy High Beam!!
@She likes to Pretend: hi5! I didn't realise I had sensitive skin until I used the Mac foundation! I hope they never ever discontinue loreal voluminous :)
@bettzy93 - yeah the mac powder is amazing - i wear concealer and mac powder everyday :) you're lucky you dont have sensitive skin - it totally sucks
@emmadee- lool i really wanted to like OPI nailpolishes.. the only one I like is You Dont Know Jacques! OMg hair history - good idea.. im going to have to trawl through facebook to find photos of me.. going to have to cut out my face though haha!! xx
Awesome post!
ReplyDeleteI actually LOVE studiox fix fluid & L'oreal Studio secrets Primer. This must be down to the fact my skin is as greasy as a chip pan. Have you tried Studio Sculpt?
I'm with you on OPI nail polishes though, they have crap lasting power, even Barry M are better i nterms of lasting.
xx
Awesome post hun! I love OPI too :) Wana try so many things from your post now.
ReplyDeleteI use the Pink Lemonade All Over Color Stik on the cheeks hun, you can use it on the lips too but I don't as I find it too drying? But on the cheeks it creates the most lovely shimmery glow, you should deffo try it! :)

ReplyDelete@Shifa - aww thank you.
@ Aysh - I must try the Pink Lemonade - I've heard so many great things about it! xx
I really enjoyed using my M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid and Penultimate Liquid Eyeliner this year. I need to try the E.L.F Warm Bronzer for that price!
