Lil Miss Moisturised: Garnier Ultimate Beauty Oil review

Since I was a child, my mother has always taught me the importance of moisturising your body. I've been moisturising my skin religiously since I was a child, and now my skin is super soft and I don't have many stretch marks or cellulite. I used to suffer from dry skin, but since improving my diet (eating flaxseeds daily) - my skin is currently 'normal'.

A few weeks ago, I ran out of body cream, and popped over to Boots to buy a new one. As it's Winter, it's even more important to moisturise!

I found the Garnier Body Ultimate Beauty Oil on offer at Boots for £5.33 as opposed to £7.99. The only oil I've used on my body is Johnson's Baby oil (and that was years ago), so I was excited to dry this out.

What drew me to this product is that it contains: Argan, Macadamia, Almond and Rose. It also doesn't contain any parabens (most body moisturisers have parabens in them, and studies have shown that they can increase the risk of cancer!)

The smell of the product is divine. It smells quite sweet (must be from the Rose) and also quite relaxing at the same time.

The product applies like a dream! It's non greasy and weightless. It doesn't transfer onto clothes and lasts a long time (I pretty much run of out body cream in a few weeks, but with this product, I've still got half left).

To apply this product, I simply spritz it on my hand and then apply it all over my body. I find that easier than spritzing it straight onto my body.

The packaging is great for travelling - sometimes body creams are quite bulky but this product slots in my makeup bag quite easily :)

I love this product, and I would definitely buy it again! £7.99 is very reasonable. It does feel like a luxury product and it doesn't contain many nasty chemicals!

You can purchase it from Boots or Superdrug's.

Lil Miss Cosy: Jelly Belly candle review *

First of all - hope all of my readers had a fabulous Christmas!

If you are a beauty blogger, no doubt you are a fan of candles! This time two years ago, I thought they were a waste of money, although after reading copious amounts of beauty blogs and watching Youtube videos, I've developed a slight obsession about them!

Candles make your room look pretty and cosy. Perfect for cold Winter nights :)

One of my favourite candles is by the Jelly Belly company. They are inexpensive and make your room smell heavenly!

I purchased this candle from Topshop for a mere £5.

It smells of 'Toasted Marshmallow' - if I could describe it then it would smell of an overload of caramel and vanilla! This candle has a burn time of approximately 16 hours.

If you're looking for a cheap and strong smelling candle, I highly recommend the Jelly Belly company!

They also have many other delicious flavours: Bubblegum (my sister has this and she LOVES it), Blueberry. Coconut, Lemon Lime. Strawberry Cheesecake, Crushed Pineapple and more!

You can also buy them from the official Jelly Belly candles website, ebay or Amazon

Have you ever tried these candles?

Lil Miss Aromatic: D&G The One Review

I decided to treat myself to ANOTHER perfume a few weeks ago. I found this on BuyaPowa for £35 gone down from £52 - so I decided to buy it straight away! I love bargains - they make me so happy!

I have lusted after the D&G perfume for a long time - probably years, but I never got round to purchasing it.

This perfume is PERFECT for evening wear. It's so 'womanly', elegant and expensive smelling - it's definitely my favourite perfume right now!

It's quite difficult to describe a perfume in a blog post, but here are the notes:

Top notes: Mandarin, Peach, Bergamot and Lychee
Middle Notes: Jasmine, Muguet, Madonna Lily
Base notes: Vanilla, Amber, Musk, Vetiver, Plum

 Summary:
PriceYou can purchase a 50ml version for around £42, which is worth it because it smells amazing!
Longevity: This perfume pretty much lasts all day!
Scent: Very elegant - great for adults (more so adults than teenagers)
Packaging: Very classic and simple.
Repurchase: Yes!

Have you tried this perfume?

Lil Miss Aromatic: Viva La Juicy Perfume Review!

I recently decided to treat myself to two new perfumes (the other one being D&G The One - which I will be doing a separate post on). I have finally become bored of Pink Sugar - which is far too sweet for me!

I have never been compelled by the Juicy Couture brand - their bags and clothing simply did not appeal to me. On the other hand, their perfumes have always tempted me! I've been meaning to purchase Viva La Juicy for a long time, but I finally got round to buying it a few weeks ago!

This scent is perfect if you're into sweet smells - it would make a great gift for any girly girl ;) It contains my favourite scents: caramel and vanilla!

It's quite difficult to describe a perfume in a blog post, but here are the notes:

Top Note: Wild berries and Mandarin Orange
Middle Note: Honey suckle, Gardenia and Jasmine Base
Base Note: Amber, Caramel, Vanilla, Sandalwood and Praline

I personally think that this perfume is great for using at work or school - although it's not so bold enough for evening wear.

Summary:
PriceYou can purchase a 50ml version for around £37, which is pretty good value!
Longevity: This perfume doesn't last as long as I hoped! It's also not very strong - which is a shame, because I adore the scent!
Scent: If you love Pink Sugar, Britney Spears Fantasy - but you want a milder version, then this is the perfume for you!
Packaging: I love the packaging! This perfume stands out compared to my other perfumes! Some may say it's tacky, but I love the bow and the Juicy necklace hanging of it! So cute!
Repurchase: Yes!

Lil Miss Organised: Makeup storage *

Since starting my new job, I've barely had any time to get dressed up in the morning! I'm always looking for ways to organise my room in order to make my life easier! When I first started blogging, I was buying lots of products, and building a massive collection. As time has gone by, I've started to cut down on the number of products I buy and actually wear and appreciate them.

I went to Primark last week, and found this beauty for a mere £5! It's perfect for storing my everyday makeup! It even blends in well with the decor of my bedroom.
The bag
The detailing
The makeup
I store all of my everyday makeup in here. The rest of my makeup goes in a massive box with lots of drawers (I will be blogging about that in the future). I love how this bag opens up at the top, which allows for easy access!

How do you store your makeup?

Lil Miss Greasy: Batiste dry shampoo does it again!

So Batiste have done it again, and come out with a few more dry shampoos! The two new additions are called: Paisley and Graffiti.

Paisley and Graffiti

Out of the two, Paisley is my favourite, because it has top notes of: Grapefruit,Lime and Cassis, middle notes of: Jasmine, Rose,Apple,Raspberry and Patchouli and base notes of Musk, Caramel and Vanilla (these are my favourite scents)

Graffiti on the other hand has top notes of: Apple, wild berry, grape and citrus. It has middle notes of Jasmine, Lily and Iris and base notes of Musk, Coconut, Sandalwood and Cedar.

What I've noticed about these new bottles is that the scent lingers for longer! Whenever I use dry shampoo, I always use it the night before (you can also use it for a Halloween party) and I blow dry my hair on the cool setting in the morning to remove any residue! It usually works a treat!

These cost £2.99 each and are exclusive to Boots :)

Batiste have also come out with a limited edition trio (containing Mamba, Savannah and Wild)- which would make a fabulous stocking filler!

These are very convenient because of their size, especially for me because I travel a lot!

This limited edition pack costs £4.99 and is available at Boots :)

Disclaimer: I was sent these products for free in consideration for a review. Honest opinion as always!

Little Miss Comfortable: Herbal tea! :%

Now that it's Autumn, there's nothing that I love more than relaxing, unwinding and drinking a cup of tea. I love tea - although I have switched to herbal tea because it's so much healthier. Having said that, I do love a mug of Indian tea (with milk and sugar) every morning :)

In this post, I'm going to explain more about the different types of teas I drink, and the benefits of drinking them!

Green tea:
Green tea is extremely popular, and many people either love it or they hate it! Green tea has many benefits! I love it! It has a great source of anti-oxidants (can help to prevent cancer), it can reduce cholesterol in blood, keeps your teeth healthy and kills bacteria in your mouth, great for digestion, can raise your metabolism and also helps increase your endurance (I tend to drink a cup of green tea before I exercise!) I don't over do it though! Green tea has a tiny bit of testosterone, which actually caused my skin to break out, so I limit to having green tea a few times a week (although one or two cups of green tea a day aren't so bad either).

Dr. Stuarts Detox tea:
I drink this detox tea about three times a week. It contains: dandelion and burdock, sage, peppermint and spearmint. This tea doesn't taste the best but it makes me feel so refreshed. I like that the fact that it is packed full of nutrients that are great for your body. It is caffeine free which means that I can have it any time of the day :)You can purchase it from Holland and Barrett for £1.99 (15 bags)

Dr. Stuart's Skin Purify tea

I also love the Skin Purify tea from Dr. Stuart which contains: red clover, nettles and lemon balm, which can soothe your skin and help with any inflammatory problems. I didn't notice a major difference in my skin, although I did feel very 'cleansed' when I woke up in the morning. This tastes much better than the detox range from Dr. Stuart. It also costs £1.99, and can be purchased from Holland and Barrett.

Red bush tea:
I also love to drink Red bush tea every day. It doesn't have any caffeine in it, so I tend to drink it in the evenings. The benefits of red bush  tea include: aids your digestive system, has a great source of anti-oxidants (greater than green tea), aids restful sleep, can improve appetite and maintains healthy bones, teeth and gums

What's your favourite herbal tea?

Lil Miss Glam: My weekend *

Hi everyone! Hope you've had a fabulous weekend. My weekend was pretty hectic! I usually prefer to relax during the weekends because I work so hard during the week, but I don't mind the odd party here and there ;)

I haven't done a lifestyle post or a 'face of the night' post in what seems like ages, so here are some photos from Friday and Saturday!

On Friday night I went to a Bollywood themed dinner and dance.

Outfit: From India
Bangles: From India

On Saturday night, I went to a party:

Outfit: Missguided
Shoes: Unze

Makeup:

Face:

  • Studio fix powder foundation in C40
  • Mac Moisture Cover Concealer in NC30
  • Body Shop Bronzer in Warm Trio

 Eyes:

  • Collection 2000 eyeliner
  • L'oreal Voluminous Mascara
  • Naked Palette eyeshadow in 'Virgin' on brow bone and inner corners of the eyes
  • HD eyebrow powder in Vamp

 Lips:
  • Barry M lipstick in shade 62

I wore exactly the same makeup on both nights! If you compare my current 'face of the night' to my previous ones, then you'll see a massive difference. I do wear a lot less makeup than I used to, and it's not due to wanting to look more natural. The main reason is sheer laziness - I have no patience to apply fake eyelashes, eyeshadow, bronzer and highlighter anymore! Hopefully my 'makeup mojo' will be back soon, but right now, I feel more comfortable wearing less!

Little Miss Pampered: Tips for skin!

One of my readers emailed me to ask about any skin care tips I could give. Here are some:

When I went to Mexico, I went to the spa several times. A great tip I picked up was that using ice on your skin can reduce pores and help with acne scars.

I have started using ice on my skin once a week, and I have noticed a big difference! My pores look smaller, my skin glows more and I break out less too!

I apply it once a week before a warm, steamy shower. I massage it on my skin for several minutes - it makes me feel so refreshed! It's a good idea to apply ice under a thin cloth, just to prevent any capillary damage. Some articles have also said that ice cubes can help delay the onset of wrinkles (something that I am now starting to worry about!)

          Source

The second tip is to use honey! I love honey on my skin - it makes my skin glow and reduces any spots/ scars! I apply honey once a week. Here is my post on it.

The third tip is to use sandalwood powder.

When my mum went to India last year, she brought back some Sandalwood powder. Sandalwood is actually used in many cosmetic products. Sandalwood powder helps with keeping your skin clear.

About 6 months ago, I had tiny little bumps on my face. Since I started using sandalwood powder, I noticed a major reduction in these! Sandalwood powder also softens skin and makes it look brighter. I simply mix a tiny amount of rose water to sandalwood powder and apply it all over my face, and leave it for 20 minutes. I'm sure you can find it in health food stores or on the Internet.

The fourth tip is to drink lots and lots of water! I drink over 3 litres a day! I am officially addicted to water! Water helps your skin to glow!

The fifth tip is to moisturise! If you don't moisturise, you will dehydrate your skin. Even though my t-zone is quite oily, I always moisturise as much as I can.  Also, if you suffer from breakouts, then not moisturising enough can cause more breakouts because your body will try to compensate the dryness by producing more sebum. Try to look for moisturisers without any parabens! I love Nivea soft moisturiser - it works wonders on my skin.

Lil Miss Glamorous: Orly Preamp +

Orly nail polishes really are the top of their game.

When I was sent this Barbie Pink nail polish (with a surplus of gold glitter) a few months ago, I fell in love. It looks like your typical glittery pink shade, but on closer inspection, it is saturated with gorgeous specks of glitter.

I'm a massive lover of the colour pink, and I probably have around 15 different shades of pink nail polishes in my drawer, but this colour stands out! It's perfect for all seasons, and you can get away with wearing it at work.

This shade is not as streaky as some of the other Orly nail polishes I have tried. Be warned though, it does take quite a while to dry!

This nail polish is from the 'Electronica Collection', which came out around July.

Lil Miss Organised: What's in my bag?

One of my favorite types of blog post is a 'What's in my bag?'. I would say that I'm quite a nosy person as it is, and finding out about how somebody organises their bag somewhat intrigues me.

This is the bag I take to work.  It's from Next.

One day, I would love to own a designer bag, but I can't bring myself to spend over £200 on a handbag! I carry so many things in it, that I would end up worrying about it too much!

The bag

The outer pockets

There are 3 compartments - which is handy for when I'm fishing through the bag.

The contents: Company phone, Umbrella, Sat Nav (I don't like leaving it in my car, in case it gets stolen), Oyster card holder, River Island wallet, keys, iPhone and toiletries bag.

Inside my toiletries bag: Batiste hair brush, travel bands (for my motion sickness), EOS lip balm, pain killers, lipsticks (Revlon Pink Pout and Max Factor Pink Brandy), Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation, Rescue Remedy (to calm me down), hair tie, headphones and Vicks Vapo Rub (to help with colds)

My toiletries bag has two see through compartments inside, which makes life easier.

Lil Miss Pampered: Denman Bebop Brush *

I use hair straighteners pretty much everyday, therefore in order to compensate for the damage, I routinely apply oil to my hair. I use a combination of almond oil and coconut oil, which are known to add moisture to hair. Massaging your hair stimulates blood flow to your scalp, which can encourage hair growth.

I was sent this Denman Bebop Brush several months ago. I use it every time I apply oil to my hair. This brush can also be used in the shower, whilst applying shampoo and conditioner.

This brush has extra soft plastic pins which are meant to stimulate your scalp even more! This could make a perfect stocking filler present for literally anyone (as long as they have hair!)

In my opinion, Denman brushes are definitely at the top of their game!

How much does it cost?
This brush costs around £4

Where can you buy it from?
It is available from Boots, Superdrug and John Lewis. You can also check out their website.

Do you massage your hair?

Lil Miss Curly: Shu Uemura eyelash curler review

Hi guys, I'm so sorry I haven't blogged in a while! I've started my new job and I've barely had any time for anything! I've finally settled down now, so I should be posting more often!

Moving on to the eyelash curler, I've wanted a Shu Uemura eye lash curler for nearly a year! It's one of those cult products that everybody talks about. When my previous eyelash curler broke, I knew I had to splurge on the Shu Uemura eyelash curler.

The low down?
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. The iconic Shu Uemura eyelash curler featuring enhanced design and upgraded features for ultimate precision that delivers the perfect curl. Upgraded silicone pad in a new mushroom shape provides a protective, stay-put edge for improved safety and optimum curl. Upgraded patented hinge with precise engineering applies perfect amount of pressure on eyelashes. Curved angle suits all eye shape. Calculated shape and size of frame length and ergonomic handles ensure stability and control. Source

Was it worth it?

Yes! Even though this eyelash curler is a whopping £20, I'd say it beats any eyelash curler I have ever tried. I never knew that my eyelashes would curl so high and look so natural at the same time! Also, none of my lashes were left out - it really is worth it. You barely need to apply any pressure - one squeeze is enough to see a noticeable change in your lashes.

Any downsides?
The only problem with this product is that you cannot buy replacement pads for it! There is one replacement given when you purchase it, but other than that, you're expected to buy a new one after 6 months. This is a total rip off! I intend on using mine for longer! I've had this product for several months, and the pad is in good condition, so Shu Uemura have exaggerated a little bit!

Where can you buy it from?
I purchased mine directly from a Shu Uemura stand in Selfridges. You can also purchase it from House of Fraser, Amazon, Ebay (watch out for fakes!) and Buya Powa (for a mere £14)

Have you tried this product?
